Colorado-Anschutz Immersive STEMM Internship

Program Overview

CDM’s recently graduated seniors spend a week at the University of Colorado-Anschutz Medical Campus completing an immersive STEMM internship in the summer before college. Interns are introduced to model organisms, including fruit flies, zebrafish, mice, and cell cultures. Hands-on activities include fruit fly dissections, zebrafish single-cell injections and scoring of incomplete penetrance, mouse brain H&E staining, and sterile technique with Hela cells. Our interns learn how to analyze their data in python and make their resumes stand out during two workshops. They also network with research scientists, physical therapists, MD/PhD candidates, and engineers at a variety of career panels, and even tour the National Renewable Energy Lab (NREL).
